The 2011 Little Lily Fall Sessions are here! I am so excited to offer such great sessions this year! Make sure to read the entire post for details and some extra love from Lily P. Studios this year.

I am so excited for the Little Lily Sessions this year. Sessions will be held on a custom set at my home, with options of vintage furniture and props, or at a gorgeous natural setting near the Salt River and Red Rocks for a completely different look (we'll be bringing furniture and props there as well!) My baby sister and her husband welcomed a gorgreous baby girl into the family at the end of August. I was honored to be there with her, cheer her on, and capture the beautiful miracle that is a child coming into this world. I just wanted to share a few of my favorite images with you.

Fine Art Photography

I got an email from a friend, Gina Maxine, of Gina Maxine Photography in California, about a group she is a part of called Elevate. The concept, led by the amazing photographer Nichole Van, is a fantastic monthly jaunt into the realm of fantasy and fine art. As I read Nichole's introduction to the project, I felt like I was reading about my own childhood dreams and playtime with my sisters when we would watch a marathon of Anne of Green Gables, or pretend that we were stars from the movies. Much like the talented group of women participating in Elevate, I love that photography allows you to bring those childhood fantasies to fruition through the lens.

Although I am not part of the group, I can't help but want to play along..... to expand my horizons, and push myself to create and think outside the box. So here is my contribution this month. I have had this rolling around in my head since seeing a similar shot from another photographer in a magazine. We drug out an old ladder and I snatched a few photographs of my baby sister and her husband as the light dimmed at the end of their maternity session. Then I set out to create the magic of the shot in photoshop. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Hello all.....yes I'm still here....What is that you say? Yes I have been gone awhile, and I must apologize for my absence. This year some other projects have taken me away from the blog and from focusing fully on Lily P. Studio. This has been and is continuing to be a year of learning for me. Learning to weed out the distractions in my life....that I only have so much time and I can't stretch in all directions. Learning to trust the Lord and the path he wants me to follow...and learning that he wants happiness for me, and if I would just stop digging in my heels, he would gladly take my hand along that path and show me the way. The past few months have also brought me this gorgeous little blessing...She has been so much fun. I'll post more about her soon. She has brought so much joy to our family and her personality is getting so fun! She has brought me a fresh outlook on life....reinvigorated my passion for the things I love.....and brought out the girliness in me that was buried under dinosaurs, scraped knees and Lightning McQueen. I can't walk into any store that has a baby girl's section and get away without falling prey to some devilish pink and sparkly temptation!

Sooo.... I'm back and so excited to focus on photography. I have some fun projects in store, as well as a collaboration with my talented sister and stylist, Lisa to bring you some fun fall sessions. So stay tuned!

Tutus and Teddybears

This was such a fun session. I love going to clients' homes for sessions and photographing children in their home turf. These three kiddos were so much fun, and so happy. You know when tutus and teddy bears are involved, things are going to go well!

On a side note, we are still looking for models for Saturday August 28th. Details are in the next post!

Phonics Building Blocks / Model Call

The model call from my last post went really well! We had so many cute kiddos come out for the shoot. Here are some shots we got that day during all of their mini shoots. We took a few minutes for each model for a mini shoot, and they got to choose a free print from the session.

We have TWO MORE model shoots coming up on August 28th and September 11th! We are looking for a diverse group of children for some amazing phonics curriculum that we are developing.Your child needs to be between the ages of 4-7 years old (can be older if they look little!). We will be photographing them using alphabet themes. For your time you will receive a free 5x7 print of your child from images similar to the ones above. The model shoot will take place here in Maricopa, I'd love to see all my Maricopa friends come out! If you know anyone with adorable children, feel free to pass the information along!

Please excuse the quality of that picture! I'm working from the road and short on time! I am looking for child models for a phonics curriculum that is in development. We are looking for children between 4-7 years old. We will be taking pictures using alphabet themes. For your time you will recieve one free 5X7 picture of your child. This past week I've been spending time with my family in Utah, (Mapleton to be exact) and we are having so much fun! My sister's house has so many fun little places to photograph the kiddos, and I've been having fun photographing my nieces and nephews. Fairytale Tea Party

Every once in awhile I'll find inspiration in the most random places. A couple of weeks ago as my family walked into church, I saw my friend Monica's three girls dressed in the most beautiful little dresses. I asked Monica about them, and she said that her mother made them for the girls. What?! Those girls must, I say, MUST be photographed in those dresses......by me. Oh the ideas swirling in my head, the images of sweet pixies dancing around a meadow in colorful patchwork. So we made a date, and I thought and stewed over the images I wanted to create. I enlisted the help of one of the most talented girls I know in styling the session, you may remember her from this post. You may not know this, but my sister Lisa is so creative and has the ability to take the every day object and make it extraordinary. We didn't have much time, due to a busy week and some procrastinating by an unnamed person (stop pointing at me, Lisa). But I happily present to you, the scene we created for our little pixies to have a meadow teaparty.

How cute is this! And take a look at the table.

I didn't really want to give a ton of direction to the girls. I don't actually like to give kids a lot of direction on any of my shoots. I try and let them do what they do, interacting with them and giving some gentle coaxing here and there. The girls were a little timid at first, but the strawberries and cookies lured them in, and I think they had a wonderful time. Here are a few images from "the teaparty."

Monica, thanks for letting me borrow your girls for the teaparty. I hope you will love and cherish these images, and this time in your girls' lives. It passes so fast, and the little moments fade so easily in our memories. It was such a fun session, I'm so thankful to be able to be inspired by the beauty around me, and capture that inspiration through my lens, and share it. I'll be adding a slideshow soon so stay tuned.

Childhood

Just a couple quick images of Cooper and his cousin best friend Ty. I want Cooper to look back on the images from his life and have vivid recollections of his childhood. I love their little personalities just itching to show through.

I can't decide if I like color better or black and white. I think they're both fatastic in this situation. Which do you prefer?
